Antiquorum Sensing Effect of Volatile Oils in Aromatherapeutical Formulations: Might Be A Solution For Antibiotic Resistance?

She graduated from the School of Pharmacy, at the Gazi University in 1993. because of her interest in medicinal plants, she applied to the department of Pharmacognosy and became a Research Assistant. While she was working on Master’s degree, she was honored with a scholarship from the ‘The Ministry of Education’ to study in the USA for her Master’s and PhD degrees. During her Mastaer’s degree, she studied the production and enhancing anticancer compound podophyllotoxin derivatives in Linum flavum and L. usitatissimum callus and cell suspension cultures. After her Master’s degree from the Washington State Univ., department of biochemistry, she applied and  was accepted by the Plant Molecular and Cell Biology (PMCB) Prg. at the University of Florida, where she learned  gene transfer methods in plants. She worked on a project dealing with the decreasing bitter taste of grapefruit via manipulation of the flavonoid pathway by means of gene transfer. After she completed her PhD, she went back to the Gazi University Faculty of Pharmacy to serve in her country’. She obtained grants and established a plant tissue culture laboratory. She has PhD and Master students who are pharmacists and working on a degree at Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy programs. Her working area is medicinal and aromatic plants, Aromatherapy, ethnopharmacology, biological activity of plant and animal drugs, and biotechnology, mostly plant tissue culture, effects of nanoflowers in pharmaceutical and cesmoceutical sciences. She has more than 50 published papers, about 10 book chapters and many conference presentations. She also served as a dean of the Graduate School of Health Sciences, where she established nonthesis programs in Nursing and Phytotherapy, and also served as the ERASMUS Constitutional Coordinator for 4 years at the Gazi University.
